My Work – Raymond Scheel
Selected Work in Instructional Design and Learning Systems
Instructional Design Portfolio
This portfolio highlights selected projects that demonstrate my work translating complex content into structured, usable learning experiences. The examples reflect a mix of course design, faculty training, curriculum development, and applied instructional problem-solving across higher education and workforce contexts.
The Red Pen and the Robot
Prepared and delivered for the 2026 Association of Texas Professional Educators (ATPE) State Summit, this interactive learning experience helps educators adapt to the growing impact of generative AI on academic integrity.
Designed to also serve as an asynchronous professional learning product, it guides educators in reviewing and restructuring assignments to account for AI-assisted workflows. The session has been used statewide to support continuing professional education (CPE) for thousands of members.

Learning Technologies B.A.
Contributed to the launch of the Bachelor of Arts in Learning Technology at Sam Houston State University by designing and delivering core coursework (LETE 1303: Learning Technology Tools). Worked closely with program leadership to align course structure with practitioner-driven outcomes.
Artifacts include planning documents, syllabus, and representative course materials illustrating applied instructional design in practice.
Blackboard Ally – Instructor Use
Designed a self-paced faculty training course supporting the rollout of Blackboard Ally, focusing on accessibility awareness, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and applied remediation strategies. Structured content to move instructors from understanding accessibility concepts to actively improving course materials within the LMS environment.

Artificial Intelligence Merit Badge Presentation Guide
Designed and delivered a structured instructional guide for teaching the AI Merit Badge, augmenting and reorganizing fragmented source materials into a cohesive learning sequence. Developed content to reduce dependency on live internet access and improve clarity for both instructors and learners.

TxVSN / ESC Region 6 Computer Science 1&2
Designed and led development of a full computer science curriculum for the Texas Virtual School Network, supporting small and rural districts in expanding course offerings. Served as both Subject Matter Expert and Instructional Design Lead, translating programming concepts into structured, accessible learning experiences.
Provided ongoing instructor support across a 10-year lifecycle and led the structured sunsetting of the program.
PBS Learning Media Primer
Developed and delivered conference presentations for the Texas ESC Region 6 annual event, focused on integrating PBS Learning Media into classroom instruction. Due to strong reception, sessions were expanded and recorded for on-demand professional learning across member districts.

Technical Documentation & Standard Operating Procedures
Effective instruction extends beyond formal course shells into operational documentation. This publication, originally featured in the enterprise-wide SHSU Online Newsletter, demonstrates how complex technical processes can be translated into clear, actionable guidance for faculty and end users.
